A Recovery Month rally, “Speak up, Reach out,” will be held Monday, Sept. 29, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Wright’s Pond, located on Elm Street in Medford.
This event is hosted by the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition, a partnership of the towns and cities of Malden, Medford, Melrose, Stoneham, Reading and Wakefield.
National Recovery Month is an annual observance celebrated each September since 1989. It aims to spread the message that: behavioral health is essential to overall health; prevention works; treatment is effective; and people recover.
The Mystic Valley coalition invites anyone to the event who is either in recovery, dealing with family members who are using substances, or has lost a loved one to substance use.
A portion of this rally is to honor those we have lost. Families and friends are asked to bring photos of loved ones.
Additionally, this event is open to anyone in the community who supports substance use prevention activities and wants to support the cause.
